I know, I know, two gratuitous RL posts in a row in what's supposed to be a CDJ, but dammit I'm a damned proud big sis right now so DEAL WITH IT. :D

My widdle baby brother (okay, not so widdle at 24 y/o and being a foot taller than me ...) just gradumatated today with a BS in Criminal Justice. :D I's so proud of him!

So, we were ushering at the Paramount tonight.

And a very special guest came by to watch one of the movies.

And I got my picture taken with him.

It was all v. exciting.

Okay, I'm pretty sure at least some of you guys play Sims 3?

If you haven't already, don't install the latest update. It seems to be crashing the launcher and also (when you can get the game to load) removed most of the custom content (including, for some people on the forums, the Riverview neighborhood).

So if you haven't already, I'd def recommend waiting on installing this update until it's fixed.

I'm working on a tl;dr about my boys, but right now, Marly is demanding ( a bit of teal deer. )

And also, Alice just found out today for sure that she's got a bun in the oven, due at the end of July. She's less-than-thrilled about Neville's timing (y'know, what with the war and them both being in the Order and Frank having just been given permission to use unforgivables and her not wanting poor little Baby to be orphaned), and will be telling Frank the news on Saturday.

Before I go contemplate screaming into something that'll muffle the sound so as not to make the neighbors think somebody's being murdered over here, I just have a question.

Let's say you order a hot chocolate.

My username is ______ because ______: kitten_patronus because we were making fun of the lamb patronus way back on GJ, so I made the journal "kitten_patronus" there as a joke, and then ended up using it as a CDJ when I split my CDJ from my icon journal. And then when we migrated to IJ, I decided I loved it too much to switch.

2. My name is _____ because ______: "brandi should wrap herself in bubble wrap" ... I think I changed my name field to that after I fell up the stairs and bashed my arm something good last summer, and I was mimicking our name fields at FTH.

4. My default userpic is ____ because ____: my "... hello." kitty! I made this icon years ago and I just absolutely loved it (narcissism, thy name is occasionally Brandi) and so ever since I started using kitten_patronus on GJ, it's remained my default icon.



I'm working on that personal meme, too. And on the Christmas prompts, if anyone else wants to go request one or more.

My inner Lexi is getting very uncomfortable with this experiment in the video we're watching in class. It's talking about being in an absolutely dark room with no light at all, and whether you'd still be able to see anything or not.

My poor little claustrophobe is freaking out at the thought of being in a completely dark room without even the barest hint of light.

*pats her*


(These middle schoolers are so cute that they think that your eyes can just adjust to absolute complete darkness. Even after six minutes in the dark, this one girl was still adamant that your eyes would adjust ... even if "it might take a few years" ........ wtf)



ETA: WAIT, OMG, MY MIND IS BEING BLOWN RIGHT THIS MOMENT: CHILDREN HAVE MINDS OF THEIR OWN!!!

I have projects due. And finals coming up in a week that I need to study for. And next weekend begins the "OH FUCKING HELL I WILL FOREVERMORE HAVE THE NUTCRACKER OVERTURE STUCK IN MY HEAD UNTIL I DIE OF OLD AGE. I WILL BE ON MY DEATHBED, I WON'T RECOGNIZE MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS, BUT I WILL KNOW THAT RICHARD BURTON WAS BECKET AND PETER O'TOOLE WAS HIS KING, AND I WILL BE SINGING THE BLOODY NUTCRACKER OVERTURE OVER AND OVER AGAIN UNTIL MY HEART GIVES OUT" time of doom.

*deep breath*

Okay, so. The closer it gets to deadlines, and the busier I am, the more I need to be doing multiple things at once, because if I try to concentrate too much on one thing, my head will asplode. And I rather like my head. It's a good shape. I'm quite attached to it, really.

SO. I'm not promising I'll get these done OMG RIGHT AWAY, but I will work on them when I seriously cannot stare at textbooks or notes or studies or (OMG WTF WHY DID MY SCREEN JUST BLINK BLACK ON ITS OWN, THE LITTLE LIGHT WENT OFF, AND THEN JUST AS SUDDENLY IT WAS BACK ON WTF JUST HAPPENED?!) lesson plans or makeshift tests that I have to make up that don't have to do with anything at all but just to prove that I can make shit up, and THEY WILL POSSIBLY GET DONE BEFORE WE ARE ALL OLD AND GRAY. IT IS A VERY LIKELY POSSIBILITY.

I love my daddy and his computer knowledge. :)

He came up and looked at my computer and named the silver cylinders: capacitors. (I told y'all I don't know the fancy terminology!) He said probably a power surge or something (which shouldn't have happened, since all my computer-related stuff is plugged into a surge protector) blew out the capacitors.

He took the video card out and plugged the monitor into the motherboard, and lo and behold, Neptune started up just fine! :D

We're still going to need to get me a new video card, which means facing the scary scary Black Friday crowds, but at least I can turn the computer on and use it again in the interim, which I wasn't sure I'd be able to do.



So, I'm already in a much better mood than I was last night. :)

Non-tl;dr version: probably my video card on my desktop computer burned out. Luckily, most everything file-wise that I'd need this week is on this computer, and probably (if it is, in fact, the video card and not something else) I can get a replacement one on Black Friday sale on Friday.

What this means: not a whole heckuva lot for people who aren't me. However, for FTHers who have apps in the queue already or will within the next few days, it means that (unless this turns into a long-term issue, knock on wood) I won't be doing adds until I get the video card replaced, since I use both computers (the desktop computer and my laptop, which I'm currently on) for doing adds. I can do them with just the laptop, of course, but it's quicker, easier, and less likely to have mistakes if I can use both computers.

Mostly I use the desktop computer for video gaming, graphics-making, and DVD-watching, so this also means that if I want to do DVD-watching, I'll likely end up doing so on this computer, which means slower tags for logs (which ... sucks since I'm finally feeling better enough to FINALLY TAG I'M SORRY I SUCK SO MUCH, GUYS) and also means slower responses to IMs and such.

Sigh. My poor baby.

Please, help reduce my school-related stress!
